Custom Texture Catalogs

Gary Demos has been gracious enough to volunteer his time to put together a customized texture catalog for the “Common” database found in 20-20 Design.  These are meant for Version 9.1 or older.  There are fairly nice varieties of wood textures for Maple, Oak, Cherry, and Pecan (or Hickory) which add traditional woods and stain colors.  There are also a small set of light commonly used paint colors for walls, along with textures for countertops, flooring, and more.  Below is a partial description of what you can expect:

White tile backsplash, Paradise Granite, Light Cream Paint

Now with the introduction of Version 10, 20-20 has introduced many more new and exciting textures, as well as sheen selection.  Because of this improvement to the Design software, Gary's textures will not be available for Version 10.  If you were using one of Gary's textures in V9 (or older) and would like to have it available for V10, simply send me an email letting me know which texture you need and I'll pass it along.

Important notes:

  • If you ever reinstall 20-20, it will overwrite the modified Common catalog, and you will have to reimport it.
  • Make sure you choose the correct version of the catalog below.
  • Be sure and follow the instructions very carefully. If the Common catalog gets messed up in 20-20, the program will not run and you will have to do a complete reinstall. You should not have any difficulty if you follow the instructions exactly.

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 – Download the correct version.  Click on the link below and, depending on your browser, click SAVE.  Save it where you can easily find it.  I recommend the C: Drive.

It’s important to select the proper file to download.  Importing the wrong file can corrupt your database and require reinstalling the program.  If you’re not sure which version on 2020 you are using, simply open 2020 Design, and click on Help, and click About 20-20…

Download the 2020 Version 9 Texture Catalog

Step 2 – Extracting the file.  You need to extract (unzip) the file before you can import it.  The steps may vary depending on your operating system and software.

When the download is complete, click on ‘Open File Location’. If you don’t have that option, right click on Start and select Open Windows Explore, and browse to your saved location.  Right click on the Common_#.zip file and select Extract All... Select simply c:\ and click on Extract.

Step 3 – Importing the textures.  Unlike a manufacturer catalog that gets installed, these textures need to be Imported.

From the 20-20 Shortcut bar, click on the 3rd icon to access Catalog Tools.  Click on the IMPORT button - NOT the Install button!  On the top line, click on the 3 dots and browse to the c:\Common_# (or whatever saved file location you used).  You should now see $COMMON in the “Catalog name” text box.

Click on OK and the program will begin the process of importing the new textures.  When it’s done, you are now ready to use the new textures in Design, which will be found in the Common catalog in 20-20.
